President
Delano Seiveright, born in Kingston, Jamaica was elected President of Generation 2000, G2K in November 2009. G2K is the young professional affiliate of the ruling Jamaica Labour Party (JLP). He was a former Vice President and Deputy General Secretary of the organization. He is a Government Special Advisor. He also sits on the Standing Committee and the Central Executive, the two most powerful decision making bodies of the governing Jamaica Labour Party.
Delano is also a Public Relations/Communications and Project Management Consultant.
Delano sits as a Director of several Government boards including the Tourism Product and Development Company (TPDCo), the Jamaica Bauxite Mining/Bauxite and Alumina Trading Company (JBM/BATCO), the Postal Corporation of Jamaica , the National Family Planning Board, and Wigton- Windfarm Limited. He was also a Director of the Jamaica Information Service (JIS), the Trade Board and a member of the Public Relations & Communications Committee of Air Jamaica’s board of directors.
Delano is also regular Co-host for Jamaica Speaks, a very popular radio weekday morning news and commentary program on NewsTalk 93fm in Jamaica. His commitment to Jamaica’s political, social and economic development is well documented. Delano is a guest Columnist for Jamaica’s oldest, most prestigious and most read national newspaper, The Gleaner.
Delano in the past served as President of the Mona Campus Youth League, the University of the West Indies (UWI) Chapter of G2K, Vice President of the UWI Mona Social Sciences Club and member of the UWI Young Economists Association and Guild Publications Committee.
At Calabar High School in Kingston, Jamaica Delano was a notably active student. He was an Executive Prefect and represented the school in Schools Challenge Quiz, Tourism Quiz and several other activities. He was also awarded the Dr. Donald Phillibert award for outstanding citizenship after placing top of his 6th form graduating class.
Delano now holds a Bachelors of Science Degree (Hons.) in Political Science with minors in International Relations and Criminology from the University of the West Indies, Mona and is currently pursuing a Masters of Science degree in Public Policy and Management from the University of London.
Delano was widely credited for his lead role in the JLP’s successful Public Relations, Communications and Advertising campaign in the 2007 General Election. He managed the Party’s Public Relations Unit and has been a senior member of the JLP’s PR Committee ever since. He was also a member of several constituency management committees namely East Rural St. Andrew , North West Clarendon and North East St. Catherine.
Other accomplishments include he being the G2K representative to the Electoral Commission’s National Conference of Youth Leaders, a JLP representative to the Electoral Advisory Committee Conference on political party and campaign financing in July 2006 and a leading member of Jamaica’s delegation to an International political youth conference in Caracas, Venezuela in 2005.
