G2K MEETS WITH CHINA’S YOUTH LEAGUE

Generation 2000 (G2K), the young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) represented by its President Delano Seiveright, General Secretary Collin Virgo and Gender Affairs Chaiperson Councillor Kenisha Allen met with executive members of the Youth League of the Communist Party of China yesterday afternoon (August 15) in Tieyuan, China.

They discussed possible areas of cooperation between both youth groups including future exchanges between both groups. The Communist Party of China Youth League has relationships with political parties throughout Europe, North America and Asia. G2K has committed itself to making firm a relationship that will no doubt become even more critical in the years to come as China increasingly plays a bigger economic, political and cultural role in the world.

The China Youth League is a political movement for persons between the ages of 14 and 28. Its membership numbers over 100 million (One Hundred Million).

Member of Parliament Othneil Lawrence, G2K President Delano Seiveright, G2K General Secretary Collin Virgo and Councillor Kenisha Allen are currently on a 10 day official political visit to China on the invitation of the market oriented Communist Party of China.

The group has so far met with senior officials of the Communist Party, China’s Ministry of the Foreign Affairs and Provincial heads. They have also taken part in several lectures and tours related to Political Party Governance, Management, political education, grassroots organisation among other areas.

The JLP/ G2K delegation have also briefed Communist Party officials on political, social and economic developments in Jamaica and develop important political linkages.
