Vice President

Born in Kingston in November 1983 and spending most of his formative years in Portmore, St. Catherine; Marlon is a young professional imbued with a deep desire for continued social, economic and political transformation in Jamaica.

His passion for public service and nation building is manifest in all his endeavours.

Marlon enrolled at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona in 2004, where he built on the foundation of academic excellence established at his alma mater - Kingston College.

He graduated in 2007 with a BSc (Honours) in Political Science & International Relations and has gone on to read for the MSc - Government (International Relations) in the Department of Government (UWI, Mona).

Inspired by the work of Anne Krueger, Amartya Sen and Thomas Friedman, Marlon possesses a profound grasp of a range of geo-political and developmental issues which present macro-economic opportunities and challenges for small-island developing states in an increasingly competitive global economy.

His research interests and appreciation for economic development and trade-related issues have made him a spirited advocate, as well as tutor of International Political Economy (Department of Government, UWI).

As a participant in the Centre for Leadership & Governance's Internship programme (2007/08), Marlon served as a Parliamentary Research Intern, where he undertook research aimed at enhancing policy formulation, parliamentary participation (particularly amongst back-benchers) and position papers for parliamentary delegations to international conferences.

In addition to copping the JPSCo scholarship/bursary in the academic year 2006/07, Marlon received an award for outstanding contribution to co-curricular activities (cricket) at the UWI.  He is also the proud recipient of the Department of Government's Graduate Fellowship for the academic year 2007/08, and was awarded the Archie Singham Memorial Prize for best performance in the course "Caribbean Politics" during the academic year 2005/06.

Marlon has had the distinct honour of serving as Technical Advisor to the Honourable Audley Shaw (2009 - 2011), in the then Ministry of Finance & the Public Service.  He has also served as cohost of the popular morning radio programme "The Breakfast Club", where he brought analytical and insightful commentary to a range of keenly contested local, regional and international issues.

Marlon currently serves as an Advisor/Consultant in the Ministry of Education, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ), the National Council on Education (NCE) and the Quarries Advisory Committee.
